As a tea plantation owner from Galle, I recently found myself at the Carmel, and I was keen to evaluate the harmony of luxury and value. The spacious rooms came equipped with essential kitchenware, and I appreciated the washing machine that didn't require coins-an oddity in many places. Having access to a saltwater pool was an added bonus, though I would've loved more sun loungers to bask in the sun. The location is quite central, which made our trips to the nearby golf club easy and straightforward. Enjoying a leisurely 10-minute stroll along the river to Yamba's heart felt refreshing. Despite the picturesque surroundings, I couldn't help but notice the pricing seemed a tad steep for what was offered. Where the hotel excels is in its service; I requested a room upgrade on arrival, and they efficiently accommodated me. It's those little gestures that can make a stay more enjoyable. If you value convenience and don't mind spending a bit, the Carmel makes for a reasonable choice. But be mindful to weigh the costs against the amenities-it's a fine balance!
